It was while Buddha sat beneath a Pipal tree that he attained enlightenment. The name Pipal was later changed to Bodhi, which literally means “enlightenment”. The symbolism behind the Bodhi seed is that all sentient beings have within them the “seed” of awakening. Once awakened, an individual has the opportunity to lead a better, compassionate life, with the inspiration to discover their “true nature”, or inherent goodness. As the Bodhi seed used in this Mala is an organic material, we suggest that you regularly clean this Mala with lemon oil. Over time and use, this Mala develops a beautiful patina, as the oil from your skin permeates the seeds. |
